Three persons, including the invigilator, who were on duty at the examination centre of the Rathmale Thissa Maha Vidyalaya in Anuradhapura were to be suspended over the leakage of a Grade 5 Scholarship Examination question paper, North Central Provincial Education Director S.M.W. Samarakoon said.

He said that the decision was taken following an investigation conducted after recording statements from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the assistant invigilator had shared the photos of the first question paper of the examination among a social media group with private class teachers before the examination began.

Accordingly, the decision has been taken to suspend the services of the invigilator, the assistant invigilator and one of the teachers who had served in the particular examination centre soon.

In addition, ten teachers from the Anuradhapura and Nochchiyagama areas who had allegedly received the shared question paper were called to Colombo by the Examinations Department to record their statements.

Nearly 100 parents had lodged complaints with the Anuradhapura police headquarters over the leakage of the first question paper of the Grade 5 examination, which was held last Sunday (15). In their police complaints, the parents had requested that the examination held again.
