The officials attached to the investigation unit of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) have arrested two people, including a woman who sent women to work in Dubai illegally on tourist visas.

The raid was conducted on November 3, where a person from Addalachchenai sent a woman to Dubai to work on tourist visa.

It came to light that when the affected woman's husband who raised a complain to the bureau that his spouse was not given the job as she was promised.

The investigating officers arrested the suspect and produced him before the Akkaraipattu Magistrate's Court on November 4, was released on two personal bails of Rs. 400,000 each, and the magistrate ordered that the case be called again on January 27, 2023.

Moreover, a woman from Ampara had gone to Dubai for a job on a tourist visa. The officers of the investigation department, acting on the complaint received by the bureau about the woman who wanted to return to the country after she did not offered the job she was promised, arrested the woman, who was from the Sampur area on November 2 in connection with this.

While questioning the suspect, it was revealed that an amount of Rs. 500,000 was charged for providing the job to the victim.

The suspect was produced before the Ampara Magistrate's Court on the same day and was released on two personal bails of Rs. 200,000 each.

The bureau is conducting further investigations to arrest another person who assisted the suspect in this malicious racket. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
