Two police sergeants nabbed for soliciting Rs. 10,000 bribe

Matale, Feb 02 (Daily Mirror) - Officials from the Bribery Commission arrested two police sergeants at Madipola in Matale today on charges of soliciting a bribe of Rs. 10,000. 

The arrest was made following a complaint by an individual in Yatawatte.

According to the Bribery Commission, the two sergeants had allegedly demanded a Rs. 100,000 bribe from an individual over an expired vehicle license, pledging not to proceed with legal proceedings. However, the bribe had been decreased to Rs 50,000.

As such, the seargents were arrested while they were accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
