Two suspects arrested with looted cash, gold at house in Boralesgamuwa

Two suspects were arrested along with nearly Rs. 01 million in cash, 10,400 US dollars and 24 pounds of gold which were robbed from the house of a senior official of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority last month.

Police launched investigations after robbers had broken into the house at Katuwawala Mawatha in Boralesgamuwa, pointed a knife, scared the housemaid and looted over a million rupees in cash and gold on June 12.

The suspects were arrested at Bellanthota Junction and the Maharagama areas yesterday. They had Rs. 925,000 in cash and 23 grams of heroin in their possession at the time of the arrest.

The suspects aged 31 and 43 are to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today.

Police said one of the suspects had three open warrants pending at the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court.
