UK Minister discusses forced cremations of COVID victims on Muslim & other faith communities with Sri Lanka

Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth, the United Nations and South Asia today highlighted the impact of forced cremations of COVID-19 victims in Sri Lanka on Muslim & other faith communities.

He expressed these views during discussions held with High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena.

The joint work on the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, strengthening diaspora links and justice and accountability were also taken into consideration during the discussion.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka welcomed the appointment of UK trade envoy Lord Mervyn Davies, the commitment to enhance bilateral trade & to develop our multifaceted relationship in the post Brexit era as sovereign states.
