UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet should not disgrace the decorum of the institution of the body she represents and should do justice to Sri Lanka, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka told Parliament today. “Madam, you have heard only one side of the story from those who are supporting the LTTE and representing them. We request you to do justice to us, otherwise you will disgrace the decorum of the institution you represent. I would like to ask you whether you are angry with us as for we had eradicated Terrorism,” Field Marshal Fonseka said. “LTTE was a lethal terrorist organization, They killed innocent persons. They murdered Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, They even went on to kill one time Indian Prime Minister, and they used suicide cadres to bump off politicians. They even killed Tamil political leaders. They chopped mothers and babies cold-bloodedly,” he added. MP Fonseka said it was clear that people in the North did not believe that Sri Lankan security forces harassed them as they gave more votes to me as the Presidential candidate in 2010 than the TNA. “They gave 50 more to the presidential candidate who contested the Presidential election in 2010. This shows that they did believe that they were not harassed by the army,” he said. However he said the security forces as a whole should not suffer for the crimes committed by one or two of their members. Also he said he would back Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malclom Ranjith, who is fighting for those who were affected by the Easter Sunday attacks in April 21, 2019.
