US to provide Rs. 7.2 billion to Sri Lanka: Semasinghe

Colombo, August 10 (Daily Mirror)- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has agreed to provide Sri Lanka with Rs. 7.2 billion to strengthen Sri Lanka’s market-driven growth, foster environmental sustainability and resilience and promote good governance practices, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.

He said in a post on X that this was announced during a meeting with USAID Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, Michael Schiffer.

"The United States announced an additional commitment of USD 24.5 million (Rs 7.2 billion) through a Development Objective Grant Agreement between USAID and the government of Sri Lanka to strengthen Sri Lanka’s market-driven growth, foster environmental sustainability and resilience and promote good governance practices," he said.
