The discrepancies that were observed in the vaccination drive are being taken into consideration and will be rectified, Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva said.
He told media that there were minor hiccups at the vaccination centres and added they have identified such acts and were on the process of rectifying them.
“As far as the vaccination drive is concerned, the main focus right now is on the Western Province. There were incidents where there were long queues at the vaccination centres,” he underlined.
“The health officials announce the particular Grama Niladhari Division prior to the date of vaccination. We have set up at least three centres in a Grama Niladhari Divisions. These issues occur when people from other GN Divisions come to the centres despite they being notified,” the Army Chief added.
Hence, he requested people to be patient until they get their turn to receive the vaccine.
He also said it would take another few weeks to start the vaccination drive in other provinces. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
