Vaccination program slowing down

Despite the government's assurance that the vaccination drive in the country will be expedited to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19, the number of persons vaccinated yesterday (17) stood up to 137,221 only.

However, a total of 285,288 persons were vaccinated against the COVID-19 on Monday.

According to the Health Ministry, a total of 103,846 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm vaccines while 21,685 persons administered its first doses.

In addition, 7712 persons received first dose of Astra Zeneca and 237 persons got its second dose while 3415 were administered with Pfizer second dose and 116 received the Pfizer first dose.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, at a recent meeting with COVID-19 Presidential Task Force had informed to go ahead in full speed with the vaccination program and finish inoculating the targeted population as soon as possible.
