Colombo, December 03 (Daily Mirror)- Actions will be taken to resolve the shortage in medicines including Sodium bicarbonate within the next few days, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

He told Parliament that the government will take the responsibility of the continous supply of high quality drugs.

The Minister said this while responding to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, who said that there is a shortage in insulin, Sodium bicarbonate, Carboplatin and Irinotecan drugs.

"There is inefficiency in the National Medicine Regulatory Authority (NMRA). There are some officials who are involved in corruption in some institutions. We are in the process of rectifying such issues," he said.
