’Yukthiya’ nets 1,422 suspects within 30-hour operation

A total of 1,422 suspects have been arrested, and 35 of them are under further investigation with detention orders in place following the island-wide special operation 'Yukthiya', the police said.

They said 347g of heroin, 827g of ICE drug, 05 kgs and 475g of cannabis, 6691 cannabis plants, 208g of Mawa and 3,574g of narcotic pills were taken into police custody in a 30-hour operation conducted from Wednesday (27) to yesterday (28).

Three suspects are under investigation for illegal assets, and 37 drug addicts have been directed to rehabilitation centers.

The Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Bureau have arrested 73 suspects out of 4,665 individuals listed as island re-convicted criminals.
