254 accidents during Christmas

A total of number of 254 cases had been reported to the Colombo National Hospital on the Christmas Eve, which is a thirteen percent increase, comparing to last year, which stood up at 219, National Hospital Coordinator Pushpa Ramyani de Soysa said.

“Road accidents and domestic accidents were the highest case that was repotted during a 24-hour period from Friday midnight to Saturday midnight,” she said.

“95 people have been admitted to the hospital yesterday and one death was reported. A total number of 63 road accidents were reported. It was a 20 percent increase when compared to the last year,” she said.

Meanwhile 39 cases of home accidents and 14 cases of violence were among the incidents reported day before Christmas.

“Incidents of violence were low when comparing with last year,” Ms. Soysa said.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
