A former army captain who was arrested on charges of preventing prisons officials from carrying out their duties when former army commander Sarath Fonseka was taken for treatment to a private hospital on July 21 was remanded till September 23 by a Colombo Court today.

When the former captain Gayan Prasad Kumara Vithanage was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne, the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) moved court that an identification parade be held regarding the suspect.

The CCD further informed court that the witnesses had given statements that they would be able to identify the suspect if he was produced before an identification parade. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
