The Military today denied Indian media reports that a Pakistan terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba would use Sri Lanka as a launch pad to attack Tamil Nadu.

The Army said that the entire island was secure and that no armed group could launch any such attack.
 

Speaking to Daily Mirror Military Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that since the defeat of terrorism the entire landmass of the island was free from any such group and could never be used as a launch pad for any attack.
 

“We have secured all boundaries of the country in a manner that no armed group can organise, train or carry out any armed activities within any part of the Island which includes the North and East of Sri Lanka,” he said.
 

Meanwhile, Defence sources speaking to the Daily Mirror said that news reports to this effect could be a part of sinister moves to destabilise, the current political and security stability that Sri Lanka enjoys.
 

The Times of India today reported that the Maharashtra Police have received an “Alert’ from Central Intelligence Agencies (Indian) which stated that the North of Sri Lanka would be used as a launch pad for Pakistan Terrorists to attack Tamil Nadu.  
 

“Sent by the joint director of VIP Security (under the Union Home Ministry) in New Delhi in mid-August, the nine-page alert states that four of the terror trainees were "Punjabis and the remaining Kashmiris or Pathans". 
 

Their "drop-off point" is expected to be around 28km off Jaffna and their target could be Mayiladuthurai or Madurai in Tamil Nadu, according to the alert,” reports said.
 

The warning asks security agencies across the country to be on high alert since the attack may come in "a few months". 

Following the notice's receipt, the Mumbai police have activated all their sources of information.
 

A passage on the alert's third page reads, "Sri Lankan agencies are reported to have arrested three suspected Pakistani nationals on February 2, 2013, who confessed to having visited Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram on Sri Lankan passports."
 

It continues: "An unconfirmed input suggests entry of such elements in Kerala or Tamil Nadu through sea route with the connivance of Sinhalese fishermen. It has been reported that LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) is working on a plot to carry out attacks in India and eight terror suspects are being trained in Pakistan", the Times of India reported.( Hafeel Farisz)
