Army Officer involved in Weligama accident suspended

Army Commander Crishanthe De Silva, has suspended with immediate effect the service of the Army officer involved in the fatal road accident in Gurubabila , Weligana, which claimed the lives of three persons.

The vehicle in which officer was travelling collided with a three-wheeler killing three persons on Tuesday (07).  

The Commander has also directed Provost Marshal Brigadier Gamini Sirisena of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and Director Legal Colonel Edward Jayasinghe to conduct immediate investigations after which the officer will be arranged before a Court Martial under Judge Advocate General of the Army Brigadier Ranjith Rajapathirana.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva has also instructed the Military Police to provide every possible assistance to the Police to conduct investigations.
