Defending champions Australia were eliminated from the 2011 Cricket World Cup following a 5 wicket defeat against India in Ahmedabad a short while ago.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia scored a competitive 260 runs in its 50 overs with captain Ricky Ponting top scoring with 104 off 118 balls.

In reply India reached the target comfortably with 5 wickets and 14 balls to spare, Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir scoring half centuries.

With this win, India will face Pakistan in the 2nd semi-final in Mohali on March 30.
