Blaze kills woman, two daughters

A Lankan woman and her two daughters were killed in a blaze at their residence in Chetpet, Chennai on Tuesday. The victim’s husband and a third child were admitted to a private hospital for treatment of burn injuries in what the police suspect to be a case of suicide.
According to police sources, Gnanachandran and his wife Jaya lived in an apartment with their three daughters. On Tuesday night, residents from the locality called the police after they noticed flames coming out of their apartment.
The Chetpet police found the charred bodies of Jaya and her two daughters amid the smoke and fire, while her husband Gnanachandran and a third daughter were found alive with burn injuries. The police have registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances.
