A British national who resided in the country illegally for 29 years was ordered to be deported by the Kandy Additional Magistrate.  

Roger Owen Smith, 74 was arrested in Akuressa by the Alawathugoda police and was handed over to the Mirihana Detention Centre for further questioning. (J. A. L Jayasinghe)
