Bus strike called off

The private bus strike which was underway along the Galle Road has been called off with immediate effect, President of Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association Gemunu Wijeratne told Daily Mirror online.

Mr. Wijeratne added that the strike had been called off as the main suspects wanted for the assault of the private bus driver on Thursday had been arrested by the police and is currently behind bars. He added that steps were being taken to take legal action against those concerned in the attack.

It is reported that the suspects - a driver and a conductor of the SLTB wanted for the assault of the private bus driver on Thursday, had surrendered themselves to the Baduraliya police. (OJ&GS)
