The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today arrested a man who arrived at the Katunayake International Airport after he was deported from Malaysia on charges of having been involved in human trafficking and terrorist activities.
Police media spokesman Prishantha Jayakody said the man identified as Thirunaukarasu Balachnadran alias ‘Uganda Bala’ is alleged to have been operating a human trafficking racket in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and India and had cheated a number of people living in the North and East.
Police said while in Sri Lanka he had operated his people smuggling racket in Wellawatta, Jaffna and Vavuniya.
The CID said those who were hoodwinked by this man to lodge their complaints on telephone numbers: 0112392917 and 0112422176
