‘CID would record a statement from Duminda by July’

Lawyers of MP Duminda Silva has informed the Colombo Magistrate Court today that CID officials would be able to record a statement from Mr. Silva by next month.
Silva’s counsel also informed court that Mr. Silva was recovering from the injuries he suffered in the Mulleriyawa shooting.
President Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya appearing for Mr. Silva told Acting Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne that this matter could be clarified from Mr. Silva’s doctor.
President Counsel Thirantha Walaliyadda appearing on behalf of former presidential adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra’s widow asked the CID whether Duminda Silva would be arrested and asked whether he could obtain certified copies of the contempt of court papers filed by Mr. Silva’s counsel against Mr. Premachandra’s daughter Hirunika.
Mr. Walaliyadda said he needs those copies before deciding whether he should go to a different forum to seek redress.ASP Shani Abeysekera said the Attorney General was still to give her opinion on the investigation report into the killing of four people including Mr. Premachandra at Mulleriyawa on the day of the local council elections.
The case was fixed for June 26 and the suspects remanded till then.
