Six policemen including an Inspector who came directly under Colombo North DIG Vaas Gunawardena’s office had been asked to appear at the CID office to record statements from them, Police sources said today.
Sources said the DIG was being questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) under detention orders of 72 hours over the abduction and murder of shoe businessman Shyam Huzamdeen and several other cases.
DIG Vaas Gunawardena was arrested on Monday night after he was questioned by the CID throughout the day for more than ten hours. He was summoned for the second time to record a statement over the abduction and the murder of a well-connected multi-millionaire businessman.
In this connection four policemen were arrested by the CID on June 5.
