The cabinet has set up a National Steering Committee to formulate a National Human Resources and Employment Policy (NHREP) for Sri Lanka with the intention of creating more job opportunities for the growing job market, a Senior Minister said yesterday.
Human Resources Senior Minister D.E.W. Gunasekara said the NHRWP headed by him will formulate a policy framework comprising a strategy and an action plan with the emphasis on the employability of educated youth particularly the GCE O/L and GCE A/L qualified school leavers in mind.
The ministers said the NHRWP steering committee represented by all the ministries and state organizations is expected to review the private and public industries and services sector; the primary, secondary and higher education sector; vocational training, labour market and agricultural sector; the tourist industry and other sectors that have a direct impact on the creation of employment opportunities.
