Tickets for the cricket World Cup final on Saturday topped LKR. 250,000 (INR 125,000) in the black market, as national carrier SriLankan Airlines struggled to cope up with bookings.

The ICC World Cup Final between Sri Lanka and India would be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

Some of those who had already booked flight tickets are now having second thoughts as there are doubts about the availability of tickets for the match.

An Indian TV Channel reported that “Match on- No tickets available.” It also showed that tickets on the black market are “sold online at INR 125,000.” Cricket authorities had already warned of frauds regarding the web purchases of tickets.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket scotched rumours that it had allocated 4000 additional tickets for Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts.

Sri Lankan Airlines told Daily Mirror yesterday that all flights were fully booked.

“All the nine flights for this week are fully booked, with an additional flight scheduled to leave at 7 a.m. departure and arriving at 9.25 a.m. in Mumbai,” an airline official said.

“People are clamouring for flights. They are fully booked. If there is a need we may have to schedule another flight to Mumbai,” the official said.

“We all hope that Sri Lanka will win, even though we can’t be there in the thousands to cheer our side,” a cricket fan told the Daily Mirror.
