UNP Kurunegala district MP Dayasiri Jayasekera who had been in the news in recent times over crossover rumours, is to face a disciplinary inquiry on August 29 at party headquarters Sirikotha.

Mr. Jayaskera told the Daily Mirror Online that he received a letter signed by lawyer Lasantha Perera requesting him to present himself for an inquiry on August 29.

The inquiry had been called following a report submitted to the disciplinary committee by UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake on Mr. Jayasekera’s alleged statements and details as to how he attended the party’s election campaign in Anurdhapura recently.

He said there were eight charges against him, all regarding recent public statements made by him.

However Mr. Jayasekera said he was to attend a rally in Ratnapura on that day and therefore would be compelled to cancel this rally. He said despite the inquiry, he would continue to participate in the party’s campaign for the provincial council elections. (Yohan Perera)
