The Senior State Counsel today informed the Supreme Court that the draft regulation covering the rights of Attorneys-at-Law to represent their clients at police stations is now before the President and asked for two months time to finalize the regulation.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Asoka de Silva, Justices N.G. Amaratunga and K. Sripavan listed the matter to be mentioned on November 19.

Senior State Counsel on June 23 informed the Court that the IGP would, within two months, formulate and gazette the regulation covering the rights of Attorneys-at-Law to represent their clients at any police station.
