Former Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne said he would stand by the match fixing allegations he had made earlier but said that he would not expose the names of the involved people on legal advice, and instead said would submit the evidence to the International Cricket Council.
He did not come out with any facts, alleging that there was a conspiracy to silence his exposure.
Asked why he waited for nearly two decades to make the allegations Tillakaratne replied “For my security”.
Tillakaratne who had reportedly made a statement in the chamber of the Western Provincial Council, later came out meet a media scrum of nearly a hundred journalists who had been waiting patiently for him for hours at the gate of the council.
The cricketer turned politician who is a member of the Western Provincial Council wore a white national dress and addressed the media.
He then distributed a written copy of the statement where he made several more allegations, mostly against the administrators but did not provide any material to support his match fixing allegations.
