The 15.5 feet long female anaconda at the Dehiwela Zoo that swallowed a 12 feet long male anaconda on Thursday, vomited the male anaconda on Saturday, official said.
Premasiri Peries, officer in charge of reptiles at the Zoo confirmed yesterday that the male anaconda had died and the female anaconda was in good health.
He also said that the body of the dead anaconda would be handed over to the Zoo Museum for keeping.
Last Friday, the female anaconda had swallowed the male anaconda soon after they had mated.
The females of the species are larger than the males. This pair of anacondas was brought to SriLanka from the Czech Republic on March 22, 2003.
