The "Consortium of Fishermen in the Northern Province" is scheduled to hand over a petition to the Indian High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha, tomorrow requesting India to stop South Indian Fishermen encroaching Sri Lankan waters.
Convener of the Consortium Herman Kumar said that they would call for a joint approach of the countries to resolve the crisis. The fishermen alleged that nearly 50 percent of Sri Lanka’s revenue in the fisheries sector is lost because of the encroachment.
