UPFA candidate and former Southern Provincial Council (SPC) Minister D.V Upul has been arrested by the Beliaththa Police for allegedly assaulting supporters of another UPFA candidate in Medagoda, Beliaththa, Police said today.

They said five supporters of UPFA SPC candidate MK Kasun have been injured during an assault and they were admitted to the Beliaththa and Tangalle Hospital.

Police said the arrested former SPC minister would be produced before the Tangalle Magistrate today.(DS)
