The UNP charged today that the government, in a desperate bid to increase its tax revenue, had introduced new legislation to set up gaming centres wherever possible.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a news conference today that the government had reintroduced the Gaming (Special Provisions) Bill in Parliament to be passed next week.
He added that the proposed Bill would give powers to the subject minister to give permission to anyone to open gaming and betting centres in the areas determined by him.
