Gas emitted from tube-well

The Wanathawilluwa Police said that a special gas has been emitted from the tube well dug by the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau to examine the underground areas in Aruwakkadu and Eluwankulama in Puttlam from the night of August 18.
The Mines Bureau has started an examination a week ago regarding the minerals in the underground area. Lime coral, a necessary mineral item for the production of cement at the Puttlam Cement Factory is taken from this underground area.
The gas had spread from the well, that of a depth of a 100 feet spread up to 5 feet in height. Upon seeing the emissions the frightened employees informed the police immediately and the police had taken immediate action.
The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the Wanathawilluwa Police are conducting further investigations.
