Former Australian cricketer Geoff Marsh has been appointed the national head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team, Sri Lanka Cricket announced a short while ago.
Marsh represented Australia in 50 tests and 119 one-day internationals, and was a member of the 1987 World Cup winning team. He was coach of the 1999 world cup winning Australian team and subsequently coached the Zimbabwe team from 2000 to 2004.
“With his vast coaching and playing experience at the highest levels, Sri Lanka Cricket is confident that he would be an ideal choice for the post of Sri Lanka National Team Head Coach,” Sri Lanka cricket said in its statement.
He takes up the new appointment on September 27, 2011, on a two year contract.
