In a heart warming story the Daily Mirror learns that government officials had made special arrangements to grade five students to sit their scholarship exams after some students couldn’t make it to the exam centres yesterday.

The examination officers and the doctors had helped Sandali  Punsarani,  a student of the Pelvehera school who was injured in an motor accident, to sit the Grade 5 Scholarship examination at the Dambulla  Hospital yesterday, sources said.

The girl was injured in the accident yesterday when an army truck and a bus collided head on at Inamaluwa, Dambulla.

Dr.  Chaminda Dias of the Dambulla hospital, considering the girl’s desire to appear for the examination arranged the necessary facilities in consultation with Commissioner of Examination.

Meanwhile, another incident of arranging special examination centre for three students who were unable to reach their examination centre at  Pitabeddara  Navodya School due to floods is reported from  Matara District.

Due to the inundation of the causeway between their homes and the school it had been impossible for K.K. Lahiru Sandaruwan, I.P. Tharuka Lakmali and M.V. Thasrushi Saumya to proceed to their examination centre.

When he was informed of the students inability to attend the examination centre, Morawaka Educational  Director  Nalin Jayami  had made necessary arrangements  with the assistance of the OIC  Keerthi Gunawardena of the Pitabeddara Police and the  Southern  Social Service Minister  Weerasumana  Weerasinghe to hold special examination centre at a place accessible to the students.

In another incident officials of the Examination Department held the examination for only two children who were also unable to reach the examination centre due to overflowing of Bobathella in Ratnapura District at a community centre in Derangala.
