Heavy cloud cover today

Cloudy skies and scattered thunder showers are expected island wide this evening, while lighting and localized strong winds will be experienced in some areas, the Meteorological Department told Daily Mirror online

Whether the cloudy weather would result in rain which would affect the much awaited semi-final match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand of the 2011 ICC World Cup is unsure as the cloud development of the area had to be monitored in the coming hours the Meteorological Department added.

Scattered rain will be experienced in the coastal areas of the Western Province in the morning hours with heavy cloud cover. (Daily Mirror online)
