Heroin worth Rs.3.5 million seized

Heroin worth Rs.3.5 million was seized by the Colombo South Anti Vice Squad today in the Vanathamulla area in Borella.

The main suspect was taken into custody while his partner managed to escape from police during the raid which was carried under the directions of SP Sanjeewa Dharmaratne.

The suspect was taken into custody by the police after receiving valuable information about his whereabouts. A special team is deployed to arrest his associate who managed to escape.

At the time of the raid the suspect was about to sell or distribute the drugs, SP Dharmaratne said. He was wondering in the Vanathamulla area when the police carried out the raid after gathering valuable information from the area about his activities.

It is believed that the suspect has been involved in distributing drugs, especially heroine in the area for some time. (Supun Dias)
