India's Rohit Sharma on Saturday created history by slamming highest number of sixes by any batsman in a One-Day International (ODI) tie, against Australia in the seventh match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Rohit slammed the third double century in ODI cricket's history, scoring 209 off 158 balls, hitting 12 boundaries and 16 sixes — a new world record.

Rohit clobbered as many as sixes in his innings of 209 to power India to a mammoth total of 383 for six in the final ODI of the seven-match series.

This was Rohit’s second ODI century, after the 26-year-old brought up his maiden in the second ODI of the series at Jaipur.

Rohit broke the Indian record previously held by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who hit 10 sixes in his innings of 183 against Sri Lanka at Jaipur.

Shane Watson previously held the record of smashing highest number of sixes (15) in an ODI innings.(Cricket Country)
