Indian arrested with Rs 9.7 mn gems

An Indian national who had allegedly attempted to smuggle out gems worth Rs.9.7 million has been arrested by the Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The suspect was arrested when he was at the airport to board a flight to Dubai and the gems were hidden inside a cigarette pack.
Gems weighing 200 karats have been recovered from the suspect.
