The Sri Lankan Navy today said that they have not carried out any kind of attacks on the Indian fishermen who strayed in to the Sri Lankan waters.

Responding to the statement made by top Indian Naval Officer Vice-Admiral K N Sushil about SL Navy not adopting a ‘pre-planned’ method in attacking Indian fishermen who strayed in Sri Lankan waters, Navy Spokesman Captain Athula Senaratne pointed out that there is absolutely no requirement to adopt a ‘pre-planned’ method, as the SL Navy has not attacked any fishermen during any instance.

“SL Navy has not and will not be attacking any fishermen on any account, be it Indian or any other nationality,” he said.

Vice-Admiral Sushil had made this comment answering a question raised by the Indian media whether Tamil Nadu fishermen were being fired at or killed allegedly by the Sri Lankan Navy.
