Instructor in hit-and-run

The commanding officer of the 13th National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant Colonel M.D Lenadora, who was also an instructor of the Leadership Training programme for University Students at the Rantambe camp, was found severely injured in Dambulla last night.

It is suspected that Colonel M.D Lenadora might have been involved in a hit-and-run incident.

He was on his way home after attending the passing out ceremony of University students, who underwent leadership training at the Rantambe camp.

The victim who traveled in the bus was found with head injuries lying under a lamp post by the villagers in the area. Parts of a vehicle light were also found in the vicinity.

He had succumbed to his injuries while being admitted to the Dambulla General Hospital.

The Dambulla police said that he was found with head injuries three kilometers from his house. A special investigation into the death has been launched by the police. (Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa)
