JVP calls for public support

The JVP called on the public to come forward and stand against the suppression of student rights by the government and protect the free education of the country.

Releasing a media statement the JVP alleged that the government was suppressing those with opposing views and that 28 students were already behind bars while more than 200 had their classes suspended in Universities island wide.

The JVP demanded that all students who were arrested be released immediately including the Convener of the Inter University Students Federation, Udul Premaratne who the JVP allege was educating the public and leaders, of the suppression that is taking place against students and the free education system.
