Khuram Sheik case: Ex-Tangalle PS Chairman seeks bail

The Colombo High Court today fixed for June 26 the inquiry into the bail application filed on behalf of former Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sampath Chandrapushpa Vidanapathirana who was convicted in the killing of Britisher Khuram Sheik in 2011.

High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya to fix the case on a further date so as to file objections.

Lahiru Kelum, Saman Deshapriya, Sampath Vidanapathirana, Prageeth Chaturanga and W. Chaturange were sentenced to jail after being found guilty of the killing of Khuram Sheik and the gang rape of his girl friend in Tangalle.

The defence counsel sought a revision of the High Court Judgment. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
