Korean gambler robbed by SL escort

A Korean today alleged that a female escort who accompanied him to a five-star hotel had robbed him of Rs.510,000 which he had won at gambling in a Casino in Colombo and an additional Rs.300,00 which he had with him. He alleged that the woman was gone by the time he woke up.

The Slave Island Police informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate that the Sri Lankan woman had stolen Rs.800,000 belonging to the Korean and the police were conducting investigations. They hoped that the hotel’s CCTV cameras would provide the necessary clues which would lead to arrest of the suspect.

In his complaint to the Slave Island police, the Korean said he had arrived in Sri Lanka on October 24 and subsequently visited a casino located at D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha in Colombo. He told police that on October 27 he had won Rs.510,000 from gambling and later asked his driver to provide him with a woman. Later, four Sri Lankan women had met him at a night club in Kollupitiya. The Korean had selected one of the women and taken her to the hotel around 2.30 a.m.

He told police that the woman had got him drunk and he had fallen asleep. When he awoke up he realized he had been robbed. Meanwhile, police informed Court that according to the CCTV camera footage, the woman had left the hotel at around 5.25 a.m. The Slave Island police are conducting investigations. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
