The Army has not received any invitation to take part in training exercises and combat courses overseas especially for the special forces and army commandos following the white flag allegations raised by the former army chief General Sarath Fonseka.

Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, speaking to Daily Mirror online, said that several European countries which used to invite the Sri Lankan military for training had now snubbed the island nation as a result of the allegations allegedly raised by the former military chief.

General Fonseka was quoted in a weekend newspaper prior to the recent Presidential elections as saying some senior LTTE officials were killed by the military despite surrendering with white flags.

The General however rejected ever making such claims in the interview and threatened to sue the newspaper over the report but has not done so as yet.  (GS, SD)
