Lankan arrested with Rs.2 mn worth foreign currency

A 28-year-old Sri Lankan was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle out Rs. 2 million worth foreign currency to Dubai this morning.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said the suspect, a resident of Colombo, was arrested at the airport Departure Lounge with Rs.2,048,110 concealed in his baggage.
The customs investigation officers found 1,187 Dirhams, 311 US$, and Rs. 1,960,170 inside her baggage, Mr. Gamini said.
