Lankan refugees in TN injured in clash

Fifteen persons were injured when a group of people from Pudhupatti village and Sri Lankan refugees clashed over a personal dispute near Batlagundu on Sunday night.

It was said that when some Sri Lankan refugees residing in Batlagundu threw liquor bottles on the premises of Sri Badrakaliamman temple, residents of Pudhupatti condemned their action and quarrelled with the refugees.

In a fit of anger, unidentified persons pelted stones on the Sri Lankan refugees.

In the attack, nine people including Kaliammal (48) Vellammal (50), Jothi Muthu 28 Thamizharasi (42) Karuppaiah (31) Nakkathal, Hariharan (16) of Pudhupatti were injured and were treated at Batlagundu GH.

The injured Sri Lankan refugees were admitted to Nilakottai GH for treatment. Cases were registered against them.(The Hindu)
