A 22-year-old woman had been admitted to the National Hospital after being stabbed by allegedly her former lover, the Police said.

A 23-old-man believed to be her former lover had been taken into custody following the incident.

The Police said that the woman, a resident of Galle, had been stabbed by the man for starting a new relationship.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the National Hospital.
