The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association is scheduled to lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission today on the government proposal to provide free transport in SLTB and private buses to Advance Level students who are sitting for their exams.
Gamunu Wijeratne, the President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) speaking to Daily Mirror online stated that Advance Level students who will be sitting for their exams will be inconvenienced due to this move and that they will take steps to educate the parents regarding this matter.
He further noted that due to overcrowding and other factors the students, other passengers and both the bus driver and bus conductor will be inconvenienced when carrying out their work.
Earlier Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene stated that Advance Level students will be able to travel free of charge in SLTB and private buses during their examination periods by producing their examination admission cards.
