Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Waheed and a top business delegation are currently in Sri Lanka on a two-day official visit.
The visiting President held talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who hosted President Waheed, and the delegation for breakfast at the President's House Saturday morning.
Prior to the departure to Sri Lanka President Waheed had told media that he would meet with Sri Lankan leaders and hold bilateral talks, including the Maldives' request to import construction gravel and easier visa arrangements.
“With Ramadan and presidential election coming up, I might not be able to visit Ceylon before the election. So it’s better to visit Ceylon now and sort out things I have to. I will also ensure the diplomats in Ceylon of a free and fair election,” he had said.
