A 28-year-old Swedish woman, who has been reported missing during a trip to Sri Lanka, has reported to the Galle police today, the police said.

“She reported to the police and gave a statement,” Police Spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody said.

The Swedish woman had informed the police that she was not kidnapped or did not face any problem, but was just travelling in Sri Lanka with a Sri Lankan companion.

Marie Jonsson Sillén from Vargarda in Vastergotland in central Sweden went missing early March while on a holiday to Sri Lanka. She was due to return to Sweden last Monday.

Interpol issued a missing person notice on March 16th and the Swedish police, foreign ministry and Sweden's embassy in New Delhi had all been involved in the search for the missing Swede.
